There were a number of complaints that the previous policy for those wishing to stay in the UK due to the coronavirus COVID-19 related travel restrictions, was limited to Chinese nationals.

The news reports on this may be somewhat misleading.  On what basis will it be any faster to gain a green card?  If you gain entry to the US on the basis of some form of diplomatic status this does not necessarily make it any faster.

All over the World Countries are restricting entry of overseas visitors and migrants due to coronavirus COVID-19.  Travel around the World, anyway, is extremely difficult with airlines either completely stopping flights or largely suspending flights.  Many airports are also unable to accept incoming airlines.  Countries around the World are stopping the issuance of temporary and permanent visas.

Fortunately, since this report initially came out, UK visa policy has changed and now all foreign nationals whose visa expires between 24 January 2020 and 31 May 2020 and who are unable to return home, can stay longer until 31 May 2020.  The previous policy only covered Chinese nationals.
