Tier 1 Post Study Work - The route to extending your visa & ILR (permanent residence).
Many post-study workers used to move on to Tier 1 status after their approval. Now that Tier 1 (General) has been withdrawn, a lot of people have been asking us how to extend their stays in the UK. The short answer is that it helps a lot to find the right employer quickly, as if you work with a company for 6 months, it can be easier for them to sponsor you for Tier 2 (General) status. 

Firstly I remind you that there is less than a year to go if you wish to apply for your Tier 1 Post Study Work Visa.  If you qualify for this visa you have until April 2012 in which to apply.

There is still considerable interest in student visas to Countries such as the UK, Australia, and certain EU Countries.  Studying overseas may be worth considering.   It could lead to enhanced job opportunities in future.  In recent years Australia has become less popular amongst Indians; New Zealand is becoming increasingly popular amongst Indian students.

Firstly, I remind everyone that if you wish to come under the current skilled immigration programs for Australia and Canada you only have about a month left in which to apply. If you are a tradesperson it will probably be easier to apply before 1 July 2011 under the Australian General Skilled Migration Programme.
