UK Visa and Immigration made several changes to UK immigration rules that came into effect on 6 July, 2018. Several immigration categories have been affected, but headline changes to Tier 2 visa rules have undoubtedly been recognised as the most significant.

A new, UK startup visa will be launched in Spring 2019, the Home Office has announced. The government wants to make more UK visas available to foreign tech entrepreneurs, enabling them to set up businesses in Britain.

UK Visa and Immigration, Home office has announced that the Tier 1 exceptional talent visa, previously reserved for those with exceptional talent or exceptional promise in science, humanities, engineering, medicine, digital technology or the arts, is now available to fashion designers. As part of wider plans to attract top foreign talent to Britain, Tier 1 exceptional talent visa availability had already been doubled last year to 2,000 a year.

Since 6 July 2018 it is much easier for many tier 2 visa migrants (not just doctors and nurses) applying for entry clearance to the UK, and their employers with a tier 2 sponsor licence to meet the requirements for a tier 2 visa.  This is following a UK Visa and Immigration, Home Office review of its much-maligned Tier 2 visa policies, and its use of a cap to restrict the number of non-EU skilled workers entering the UK.  It is also following a previous announcement by Home Secretary Sajid Javid on the Andrew

The UK Visa and Immigration changes, Home Office changes from 6 July 2018 now meant that non-EU doctors and nurses are exempt from the UK Tier 2 visa cap. This also makes it much easier for other skilled level people to enter the UK.  As part of long-term government plans for the NHS, there will be no restriction on the number of foreign doctors and nurses that can be hired from outside the European Union (EU) via the Tier 2 visa route.

UK visa papers continue to be lost at Home Office

The UK visa status of hundreds of foreign nationals in the UK is in turmoil after vital personal papers were lost by UK Visas and Immigration at the Home Office some months ago. A spate of incidents involving vanishing files has led to calls for the government agency to overhaul the way it handles documents.
