The British government had previously announced that business people from EU nations can enter the country, UK visa free, for meetings and limited paid work. However, Westminster maintains that EU citizens will not receive preferential treatment or have greater rights than people from other friendly countries.

UK Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, previously announced that for nationals of some Countries Tier 4 visa restrictions have been eased so simplifying the application process. Some international students coming on an UK visa to study at the country’s universities will no longer have to prove they can speak English or provide evidence that they have the funds to support themselves while in Britain.

Likely changes to the US$1 million US EB-5 immigrant investor visa are making the UK a more attractive investment opportunity for the super-rich. Tier 1 investor visa applications made by millionaire and billionaire immigrants soared by 46 per cent in 2017. The news comes amid a Home Office crackdown on the £2 million Tier 1 investor visa route.

The right to NHS treatment for foreign nationals caught up in the Tier 2 highly skilled visa row, went to court on Tuesday, 17 July. UK immigration minister, Caroline Nokes, previously announced a new UK visa scheme that was added to the Tier 5 (Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange (GAE)) visa route. The UKRI Science, Research and Academia scheme allows non-EEA researchers, scientists and academics to come to the UK for up to 2 years.  The Tier 5 visa scheme may be worth considering as an alternative to the Tier 2 visa scheme.
