Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation of restricted certificates of sponsorship meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for January 2019 stands at 2,119, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its December report, citing that its figures were correct as of 19 December, 2018.

Recently, Workpermit.com reported that a controversial scheme involving the passing of UK visa status information by the NHS to the Home Office, was scrapped. A similar scheme involving the police and the UK government agency has recently ended.
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Home Office have announced a new, Tier 1 exceptional talent and exceptional promise visa for architects. The new visa is set to launch on 10 January, 2019 after 12 months of negotiations to deliver a new UK visa scheme for highly-skilled architects to come to Britain.
