Multinational tech firm, Microsoft, is the latest company to settle with the US Department of Justice (DoJ) over claims of US immigration-related discrimination.
Two MPs are reportedly trying to force the UK government to waive UK visa fees for foreign nationals who have served the British military and want to remain in the country. Labour’s Dan Jarvis and Conservative MP, Johnny Mercer, both of whom are army veterans, have put forward an amendment to the UK Immigration and Borders Bill.

 

The number of H1B visa holders in the US has slumped by 9%, representing the highest drop in a decade. Following an analysis of data released by the US Department of Labor (DoL), foreign engineering and mathematics workers on H1B visas fell 12.6% in the fiscal year ending 2021, compared with the previous year.

 

According to an analysis of the UK government’s quarterly statistics, delays in processing UK sponsor licence applications and work visas are compounding Britain’s current labour shortages. The quarterly statistics, published by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), show that the waiting times for immigration sponsorship have increased sharply since the start of 2021.

 

After weeks of speculation, the Biden administration has officially reinstated the controversial, Trump-era ‘Remain in Mexico’ US immigration policy. Rumours that the policy would be reinstated have been rife, and despite previously describing it as ‘inhumane’, Biden has reintroduced the rule in an effort to stem the flow of Central American migrants.

 

Recommendations made by the Chief Inspector of Borders and UK immigration, David Neal, in a report analysing the Home Office’s front end services (FES), have been accepted by the government department. The Chief Inspector’s report revealed a number of issues with Home Office FES and how systems were functioning.
