US Vice President, Kamala Harris has outlined her US immigration strategy to reduce the flow of migrants at the southern border with Mexico ahead of a visit to Central America later this year.

There is particular concern over US student visas, amid fears that that international students will be unable to attend university in person ahead of the 2021 semester starting this fall.
Democratic lawmakers have urged US President, Joe Biden, to stop using local police to enforce US immigration laws, arguing that it is ‘making the country less safe by dissuading immigrants from coming forward to report serious crimes. A letter was recently sent urging the Biden administration to immediately ‘terminate agreements’ with local police.
The Biden administration has increased the number of US visas made available to seasonal workers by 22,000. The extra seasonal guest-worker visas will become available ahead of the busy summer season, according to a statement issued by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
