Recently there have been concerns about the consequences of a no-deal Brexit on UK visa policy - Following a report from the Migration Advisory Committee it may become easier to bring in skilled workers on a Tier 2 visa - What will happen if Boris Johnson becomes Prime Minister?  Will it make much difference

Sanwar Ali comment:

It is not certain exactly when changes to the Shortage Occupation List will occur.  We think it is likely that UK Visa and Immigration will make changes.  However, there is also some political pressure to maintain tough immigration controls.  The anti-immigration Brexit Party did very well in the recent European Elections.

We include below a review of news reports covering UK visas and immigration and will focus in particular on the Brexit Party and the European Elections this week.

Sanwar Ali Comment:

This would not be surprising.  However, do we in reality know what the current situation is to be able to compare this to what may or may not happen in future? It seems that too much of the time from top to bottom in an organisation, people are encouraged to ignore and cover up any wrongdoing.  If you complain about discrimination the complaints may become mysteriously lost.

Sanwar Ali Comment:

There have been allegations of racial discrimination against the Home Office including allegations made by their own staff.  More recently the UK Visa and Immigration Department of the Home Office is facing investigation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission for Institutional Racism over the Windrush scandal.  A UK visa regulator sponsored by the Home Office is accused of institutional racism, and direct and indirect racism, and yet is refusing to investigate, and Instead are denying everything.

Nigel Farage the former leader of UKIP the UK Independence Party is now founder and leader of the Brexit Party. The Brexit Party which was launched little more than a month ago, is doing astonishingly well with thirty-four percent of the vote according to a recent opinion poll.  The European Elections occur in a few day’s time on 23 May 2019.  It is expected that the Conservative Party, especially, will do very badly.
