Immigrants moving from one Country to another are more likely to be entrepreneurial.  To start a business is difficult and risky.  It means a lot of hard work.  Long, long hours.  Perhaps no holiday.  Most people would like the relatively more comfortable existence of working for someone else.

Countries have an international responsibility to take care of refugees.  International conflicts are the main cause of refugee crises.  Unless these wars stop you will continue to have refugees.   If Governments refuse to help then people like Barbara Pomfret and charities are desperately needed.

Asylum law is based on international law.  Can Boris Johnson actually change things that much without breaking the law?  Is this just meaningless “populist rhetoric”?  Johnson says that he will reduce migrant channel crossings.  More Royal Navy ships may turn out to be a waste of money.  Only a relatively small number of people in reality make the crossing by boat.
