Owing to an increasing number of work permit applications received by Work Permits UK for their consideration, from 1st April 2003 they will be introducing a fee of £95 for the processing of applications. This fee will apply to initial work permit applications, work permit extensions, change of employment and appeals.

The German Government in summer 2000 introduced the highly successful “German Green Card” for IT professionals to cope with the continuing shortage of qualified IT professionals in Germany. The programme launched by Federal Chancellor Schroder radically streamlined and speeded up the process of bringing in non-EEA nationals to work as IT professionals in Germany.
There have been more than 13.000 German Green Cards issued since the programme was introduced, with Indian nationals being the largest single group to benefit from the programme.
There have been major changes to the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme from 28 January 2003. One of the criticisms of the old HSMP programme was that very few people could meet the criteria for this. The new programme addresses these concerns with the following changes:
