The US Department of Justice (DoJ) is suing social media giant, Facebook, over its hiring of immigrant workers. Following a reported two-year investigation, the DoJ filed a lawsuit claiming that Facebook had discriminated against American workers. The lawsuit has been dubbed yet another parting shot by outgoing President Donald Trump.

 

Amid reported cases of US visa programs being used by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members for espionage, the Trump administration has issued stricter immigration rules in an effort to limit US entry for CCP sympathizers. The new rules mean that the CCP’s 92 million members will be restricted to one-month, single entry visas.

 

In a huge loss to outgoing President Donald Trump, a US federal judge has quashed rules designed to limit the number of H1B visas issued to skilled foreign workers every year. Higher salaries imposed on companies that rely on skilled overseas workers, announced in October, were thrown out by California District Judge, Jeffrey White.

 

The Trump administration is targeting a series of US immigration changes before President-elect, Joe Biden, takes office. The administration’s final push on immigration is being driven by Trump’s anti-immigrant aide, Stephen Miller, the man behind many of the outgoing President’s controversial immigration policies over the past four years.

 

Donald Trump’s efforts to block undocumented immigrants from the latest US Census have been questioned by the Supreme Court. Last month, Workpermit.com reported that Trump had taken the issue to the USA’s highest court. However, while the Supreme Court has questioned the move, justices are seemingly hesitant to immediately stop the policy.
