The Biden administration is set to create an intelligence cell run by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as part of plans to expand biometric data collection from migrants. The new US immigration intelligence-gathering cell will also monitor misleading information posted on social media that could trigger mass migrant movements.

 

A controversial, Trump-era US immigration policy will be reinstated by current US President Joe Biden to comply with a court order. The ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy will be reintroduced in November, forcing asylum seekers heading for the US to remain in Mexico until their US immigration court date.

During the show, Trump was questioned about COVID-19 testing protocols for refugees, prompting Trump to spout several unfounded claims about immigrants. He even claimed that other countries were conspiring against the US.

A federal judge has ruled that the US Department of State (DoS) must continue to issue US visas to eligible travelers during travel bans. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, travel bans have been used to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with a blanket visa ban also applied. However, the federal judge ruled that this action is unlawful.

 

US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, has announced new guidelines that limit US immigration arrests and deportations. Mayorkas said that US immigration agents will be directed toward only detaining and deporting immigrants who pose a threat to public safety or US national security.
