People across America took advantage of the May Day bank holiday to march in support of immigration reform. In cities across the US on May 1st 2013, there were demonstrations with thousands of people in attendance. The largest single demonstration was held in Los Angeles where some 30,000 people marched but there were smaller demonstrations in cities big and small.

The US tech industry has given a cautious welcome to the draft immigration bill released by a group of US senators on 16th April 2013.

The bill was revealed by a group of eight senators, four Republicans and four Democrats, who have been working on a draft bill since January. The group were nicknamed The Gang of Eight by the US media.

The Act was drafted by the Gang of Eight; a group of eight senators, four Republicans and four Democrats, and contains proposals for comprehensive reform of the entire US immigration system.
