In August 2018 President Trump signed the Knowledgeable Innovators and Worthy Investors KIWI Act. After the best part of a year, finally on Monday 10 June 2019 in a couple of days time, it will be implemented. This will allow New Zealand nationals to apply under the US E2 visa and E1 visa scheme. The New Zealand owned business (usually at least fifty percent ownership) first needs to be registered under the E2 visa or E1 visa scheme.

It is inevitable in industrialised advanced Countries that there will be skills shortages. The great difficulties in obtaining US visas causes many problems and makes skills shortages even worse.
US visas can be difficult to obtain, with the options for entry somewhat limited. If you wish to live and work in the US and entry is not based on family, then usually you need to have a job offer or you need to start a business. Even with a job offer it can be difficult obtaining a work visa for the US.
The US embassy in Tel Aviv has officially started accepting applications for E2 visas. Following years of delays, the US E2 treaty investment visa was opened to Israeli nationals on May 1, 2019, with the Israeli embassy in the US now accepting applications for a reciprocal visa for US citizens, known as the B-5 visa. The E1 Treaty Trader visa has been available for Israeli citizens since 3 April 1954.
