During an annual tourism conference, Indian Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai urged other countries to make their visa regulations more tourist-friendly.

The three day annual conference of tourism ministers was held in Paris this past week. The UN World Tourism Organization, who hosts the meeting each year, invites tourism ministers from each of the G-20 countries to confer on tourism strategies and economic issues.

UK Immigration has published a list of financial institutions that do not provide financial statements suitable for the purposes of applying for a Tier 4 student visa. These financial institutions are all in India, Pakistan and the Philippines.

The new UK immigration requirement that overseas spouses must be at least 21 years old has recently been declared unlawful by the UK High Court.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron had said that the new rule would reduce the number of forced marriages.

Lord Wilson in the Supreme Court judgment had the following to say:

"I would acknowledge that the change in rules is rationally connected to the objective of deterring forced marriages."

"But the number of forced marriages which it deters is highly debatable.

There will be further changes to the UK shortage occupation list. This will make it more difficult for some people to work in the UK under the Tier 2 visa skilled immigration route.

People wishing to become UK citizens may soon need to brush up on their knowledge of British history in order to pass the citizenship test (Life in the UK Test).

"There's a whole chapter in the citizenship handbook on British history. But, incredibly, there are no questions on British history in the test," said Prime Minister David Cameron.

The UK Labour Party Leader Ed Miliband has said that when the Labour Party was in power their immigration policy was wrong.

Opposition leader Ed Miliband had the following to say:

"We got it wrong in a number of respects including underestimating the level of immigration from Poland, which had a big effect on people in Britain. "What I think people were worried about, in relation to Polish immigration in particular, was that they were seeing their wages, their living standards driven down.
