Reports have surfaced that more foreign investors are looking to the UK’s tier 1 entrepreneur visa with a view to entering the country, and finding out how business will be conducted in post-Brexit Britain. London has become a particular hotspot for foreign investors in recent months, attracting more investment than anywhere else in Europe.

In a bid to attract foreign entrepreneurial talent, the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) has endorsed a number of major ‘seed competitions’. This enables the DIT to award funding to companies - monies that are recognised by the Home Office as ‘available’ for Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa applications.

Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for August 2017 stands at 2,151, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its July report citing that its figures were correct as of 20 July, 2017.

A recent survey by the European Tourism Association (ETOA) has found that 85% of tourism companies find the Tier 2 visa application process 'difficult to impossible'.

Plans to station armed US immigration enforcement officers at UK airports could result in higher air fares and additional security checks for British holidaymakers heading to America, as well as those travelling to the US on visas such as the E2 Treaty Investor, L1 visa, or Green Cards. Transatlantic passengers face immigration pre-clearance checks before boarding a flight, with the new procedures currently being discussed by Washington and Whitehall officials.

Despite a manifesto that calls for an almost complete stop to immigration, Britain First – a far-right-political party in the UK – is actively looking to recruit Polish immigrants. Although the group has no elected officials at any level of government, they have amassed 1.9 million likes on Facebook – more than any other political party in the country.
