Indian cuisine continues to increase in popularity around the world. Good opportunities exist for entrepreneurs and established Indian-based restaurant chains to establish themselves abroad in countries such as Canada and Australia. There is also demand closer to home in countries such as Malaysia and Singapore which have large Indian populations.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said that whilst high levels of immigration have caused some problems in Singapore, that overall, immigration is good for Singapore.

Speaking recently to reporters after recording a Chinese language forum at MediaCorp the Prime Minister had the following to say:

If you have a professional or tertiary level qualification and would like to live and work in Singapore, you may be eligible for a one-year visa to find a job. You will normally be granted permanent residence if during this time you find a job in Singapore; Singapore has hardly any unemployment.

Many Countries have tightened their immigration laws. Singapore still has relatively liberal immigration laws. If you meet the requirements Singapore provides a great immigration opportunity under its Landed Permanent Residence (LPR) visa scheme.

Skilled immigration to the UK, Canada and Australia has become increasingly difficult in recent years. Singapore and Hong Kong already have large Indian communities. More and more Indians are looking at Singapore and Hong Kong as immigration destinations.

Many countries allow entry of economic migrants based on a points based system that assesses an applicant's likelihood of finding a job and contributing to the economy. If you wish to work in Hong Kong one of the most successful economies in Asia, it may be worth considering a Hong Kong skilled immigration programme. There are a number of options available if you have the right skills and experience and wish to live and work in Hong Kong: the General Employment Policy (GEP) program for skilled workers with a job offer, and the General Points Test (GPT).
